The ERMSAR-2010 Conference in Bologna ended the 1st SARNET2 period with a success, and we are now proceeding rapidly toward the mid-term of the project (March 2011…). Two important actions must be underlined: ongoing creation of the Advisory Committee, composed mainly of end-users, and endorsement by the European SNETP (Sustainable Nuclear Energy Technological Platform) of the SARNET role to define and rank the priorities of R&D for severe accidents on Gen.II-III plants. Many joint R&D actions that were launched during the 1st period should yield concrete outcomes in 2011, showing significant progress of knowledge on the six high-priority issues.
